Disclaimer: As always, I write these articles to stimulate minds and to get the thought process in motion...
As the year comes to an end and we reflect on our progress, accomplishments and shortcomings, we all tend to make promises to ourselves of what we plan on achieving or letting go of in the upcoming year as we strive towards perfection and being better individuals. Some of us live up to our self made promises, while others fall off the path or continue with the same bad habits within weeks even days after making these promises (guilty as charged). This week I want to discuss the New Year, Goals, Resolutions and how to accomplish them.
What Are Your Plans, Goals Etc?
For some the New Year is an opportunity to start over in career fields, love, and of course eliminating bad habits like smoking etc. I'm curious as to what some of those goals are. Which ones are realistic based upon your character? What goals, dreams and changes are a little far fetched even for you? Sure it's a great thing to shoot for the stars but let's make resolutions and plans that are realistic, this way we are able to accomplish them in stride. Sometimes we burn ourselves out with resolutions we can't keep and eventually get down on ourselves. I for one made the resolution to go to the gym at least 3 times a week last year. I even developed a routine 3 weeks before the New Year hit so by the time 2009 rolled around I would have momentum, I am proud to say I'm still in the gym and still sticking to my regiment. Goals and Resolutions require maintenance like anything else we wish to accomplish. If your goal is to be a better person who is more patient and or understanding work on that, whatever it is, be prepared to work at it. Even if you lapse and slip up, get back at it, mistakes enable progress.
Acknowledge Your Progress
I once dated a person who hated people who would seek a pat on the back for their progress or would acknowledge their progress themselves. Now I don't know if she hated all people who did it but I do know she hated when I did it. I share this story with you because when accomplishing a goal or sticking to a resolution it may not get noticed, and since it is a promise you made with yourself, give yourself credit if you feel you deserve it. If you are proud of your progress take time to acknowledge it, and give yourself a pat on the back, in doing so you realize that your goals are attainable and you will continue to work at them. This can also enable you to discover new things about yourself and even establish new goals and mid-year resolutions. Remember, the finish line is the start of another race, but before you start another marathon take a nice long victory lap before tackling your next obstacle.
Give Thanks...
2009 has been an interesting year for us all; we have witnessed the election of Barak Obama, but also witnessed the effects of what a recession can do. As we count down the days to the arrival of a New Year full of new opportunities, new obstacles, and new possibilities I urge you all to take a brief pause and give thanks for all the things you have accomplished, overcome, and avoided this year. If you have experienced hardships give thanks for that, for hardships define character, and ultimately you are still here stronger wiser and prepared. Let us not forget there are some who didn't make it through this year full of financial crisis, stress etc. Giving thanks opens channels for new blessings, how can we go on to bigger and better things without first appreciating what we have now? I wish you all a very healthy, very prosperous and fulfilling 2010... As Always Peace & Love

Marketing Buzz: Who Gets the Highest Ad Rates Online??
By Steve Canal

Online ad rates, we're told, are on an express train to zero, helped along by gagillions of impressions generated by Facebook, Twitter and its ilk, and the networks, exchanges and targeting technologies that allow advertisers to buy audience as a commodity, without dealing with individual sites at all.
And while the recession has put another hit on CPMs(Cost per 1K Impressions) -- the term ad buyers and sellers use as shorthand for the cost for 1,000 impressions -- across the web, some sites can still pimp fat ad rates either by virtue of their reach, specialized audience or unique environment.
Who's getting the best ad rates on the web today? The list below, culled from agency buyers and media sellers, is far from scientific, but gives a good sense of who can still charge bank and why.
Yahoo- 10 Billion Ad Impressions a day
CBS Sports- $70 CMP
Hulu.com- $35 plus CMP
ABC.com- $45 plus CMP
I found this very interesting...
Kim Kardashian with 2.7 million followers earns $10,000 per tweet by marketers.
Real Talk: Don't Get Down On GOD
By Cedric Shine

You know we're living through some rough times. More and more people are out of work, families are losing their homes. People's savings are being depleted while they are just trying to keep their head above water. And right when you are at your weakest point Lucifer {the devil's more handsome name} is going to tempt you. He tempted Jesus and he's going to tempt you. He'll taunt you and ask where is that God of yours, where is he now? Look at you, your in the midst of a mess and you can pray on it, you can leave prayer notes, heck do a dance if you want and you'll still be in this dejected space.
I know it's tempting to give up. To join the peanut gallery and speak of God as if his power is merely that of a good myth that has transcended generation after generation but don't get down on God. I'm not a huge fan of the new Alicia Keys cd but she has a song on there, 'wait till you see my smile'. Wait until you see your smile, you'll be so happy and feel so blessed you won't know what to do with yourself. Wait until you make it to where you want to be, you will be so happy that you didn't give up but we can never experience that glory if we give up.
We've got to be patient. We have to know that what God has for us no man or woman can take away. We can't let anyone or anything, any decision steal our joy. It's what keeps me going. My joy, the fact that I know I am destined to do great things. Instead of walking around like someone stole my bike, when in essence it may feel like someone is trying to steal my dream, I envision myself in the future. I see myself doing the things I've always dreamed of, I make a mental note to own my future. I'm impatient, I think I should be there sooner than the plan that has been written for me says I should be there. But I still see myself there, doing what I've dreamed of and so much more.
I ask you not to give up on your faith in the face of disappointment. I've seen relationships gone sour mess up our faith, jobs - school, family issues. Sometimes it feels like its us against the world but if it is truly us against the world {which I'm sure its not} then we must hold onto our faith and know that our Creator will provide. It's us against the world but God is in us, so we are not alone. So if your tripping off something, don't trip on God. If your high on life, everything is going great for you, give the Creator his just do. Don't get so warped that you think you are the only one driving your life to excellence, remember God is in you, directing you to not hit that pothole. It's the holidays, spread love, spread joy and most of all believe that you can be all that you ever wanted to be. You may not be there yet but close your eyes, look to the future - smile and own the greatness you will become. Peace and Grace be unto you.
La Familia: Natural Born Lovers

Kissing is an art; understanding a woman's body is an art. Love making....well, love making is an artistic fantasy.
Michael Jordan wasn't born with a basketball in his hand, but once he learned to play his natural talents just shined. He found his rhythm and the pure essence of his game was undeniable. I look at love making in the same way; we weren't born having sex but some people are....NATURAL BORN LOVERS.
Have you ever been with someone and they did everything right? They are a NBL - and you're probably not the only person who's discovered their splendid talents. They are passion extremist, engulfed in their sexual fantasies. These lovers have an uncanny way of pleasing their mate at all cost and understand the rhythms of their bodies - as well as their mates. Some things can not be taught - they have to be felt on an unconscious level and as much as we are spiritual beings - we can not deny these physical bodies that our soul in habitats. Natural Born Lovers understand this concept more than anyone else. If you are not a NBL then just hope that you have the opportunity to get lessons from one of these sexual beasts. Everyone can't be Michael Jordan but you can still suit up for the game and get some playing time.
WARNING: A Natural Born Lover may not love anything more than the act itself. After all, it is a fantasy inspired virtual reality. So be careful with your heart if your body has been sacrificed for the experience.
The Grub Report: Straits

"Straits Atlanta" owned by Chris Yeo and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, offers a menu that brings together the culinary cultures of Singapore (malaysian, chinese, indian and nonya). A very cozy decor and welcoming staff awaits you at Straits. They offer large or small plates (which give you the option to mix, match and try everything). We decided to go with the small plates and have the Kung pao Chicken sprinkled with crushed peanuts, Calamari (with Kaffir lime aioli and galanga sauce), jasmine rice, beans and saki. The food was excellent and don't be fooled the name "small plates" because they are not that small. Other tasty choices were the Roti Prata, Tamarind beef and the Fuji apple shrimp. A great location and such a varied menu that i would suggest multiple visits or order a whole lot of small plates to really enjoy everything on the menu.
Indie Film Review: You Stupid Man (2002)

Staring: Milla Jovovich, David Krumholtz, William Baldwin, Denise Richards
Directed by: Brian Burns
Sometimes You Can't See What's Right In front Of Your Face
Last week I had the privilege is watching a really goofy indie called You Stupid Man. This film is about a nerdy guy named Owen (Krumholtz) who is love with his actress girlfriend Chloe (Richards). Chloe gets an opportunity to star in a sitcom and must head to Los Angeles to begin shooting. During a surprise visit Owen flies to L.A to discover Chloe is doing more than staring in a sitcom, she is cheating on him with her co-star. Owen attempts to pick up the pieces by going on blind dates and doesn't do too well in the dating scene. Owen's friends hook him up with Nadine (Jovovich) a neurotic basket case who is just like Owen. This weirdo duet end up becoming really great friends until Chloe's sitcom is cancelled and she comes back to town claiming she wants Owen back.
Owen must decide if he can really trust Chloe and work things out or should he pursue a relationship with Nadine who he seems to have more in common with and obviously clicks with. Is Owen too stupid to realize who he is supposed to be with or will he make the right decision?
I recommend You Stupid Man to anyone who needs a good laugh, and doesn't feel like indulging on anything too serious, there are moments in this movie that will have you cracking up while other parts will annoy you a bit. Overall You Stupid Man is a chill ride.
