JUST THINK 99: "WISH WITH NO FEAR!"
by Shelli Tinae
twitter.com/ShelliTinae
theMindofShelliTinae.blogspot.com

To wish is to request upon the universe your grandest desires. What is it that you truly wish to manifest in your life? I was listening to one of my favorite songs by Bilal called "Sometimes," and I got chills when he said, "I wish so clearly sometimes...I wish with no fear". When I think about my fondest desires, they are perfectly scripted in color and HD. The wish is the map; the wish is landing strip; the wish is the holly grail that everyone is searching to find. All that we have dreamed of, we have seen in our minds because we have wished for it to exist.

Ever since we were children we wished so clearly! Everything imaginary was real and so was the joy experienced. A mud pie taste just as good as Ganny's sweet potato pie. When your wishes are clear, the experiences are sweet. The desire is what sets the wheels into motion. As you wish upon a star, the universe recognizes your request because you are the creator, writer, and director of this epic film.

Why Some wishes don't come true

You have to hold onto the vibrational frequency you planted when you created the wish or it will disappear. As Bilal so eloquently stated, "I wish with no fear." Wishing without fear is the key to manifesting your desires. If we wish to have a brand new car but spend most of our time focusing on how we can't afford it, then your new car will not appear. You see, the universe is responds to your solutions OR your problems. Which ever you choose to highlight - is what you will experience.

It hit me like a ton of bricks as I was listening to this man's sultry voice and I realized I have plagued some of my wishes with fear. Wishing without fear is showing love for all of the things that you dream about. All of the things that we love we should only offer positive feelings towards. We can unconsciously sabotage our dreams by doubting they will manifest. Oh, the irony! And even more ironic is the song speaks to how we sometimes wish clearly or we sometimes without fear and I know those are the moments when we sometimes experience heaven.

Heaven is to experience your sincerest wishes!

Eternal blessings,

REAL TALK:"REAL MEN ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO CRY"
by Native Notes
twitter.com/NativeNotes
NativeNotes.net

Sissy, punk, b*itchassness central, “He ‘ain’t strong, he ‘ain’t a real man.”

These are just some of the derogatory catchphrases a man can hear from both men and women alike if he’s deemed “too emotional.” God forbid he cries. But who created this rule?

On Sunday night I was involved in a unity circle (circle of loved ones pouring libations and speaking about what they’re thankful for) in honor of a close friend who was moving to Ghana. He was leaving to work with the Supreme Court there through a fellowship with his law school. It was an emotional moment for all of those who were involved, both men and women. I felt myself getting choked up when I spoke about my love for my friends, my own shortcomings and my fear of the unknown. But subconsciously I was thinking to myself: “YOU BETTER NOT CRY!”

Fortunately I grew up with a mother who taught me that showing emotion was a sign of strength rather than weakness. But what about all the brothers who were taught to keep it all in? I have a pretty progressive group of friends so I immediately threw the question out to the group. One of my boys said something profound: “Suppression is not strength.”

That’s when it hit me harder–It’s deeper than men not crying and more about men not learning or being taught how to deal with their feelings as a result of trying to be strong. How many women do you know who complain that their man is emotionally cold, and that they can’t get anything out of him? On one side of the spectrum you have the man who can’t put his feelings into words, which alienates his partner. But in worse scenarios you have men who have suppressed feelings, and their rage winds up manifesting itself in the form of verbal and physical abuse towards their loved ones (or somewhat innocent third parties).

Men have been raised in a culture that promotes brute over reasoning. To reason, one must be in tune with how they feel about a topic. To fight, all you need is enough anger to throw that first punch–the rest is mere survival instinct.

We can sit around and blame rap music, television shows and video games for the stunted growth of men but until we look in the mirror and reflect on our interactions with men and the boxes we put men in, we’ll see the same cycle. It starts in the home; in those personal spaces that we share with loved ones. It starts with redefining what it means to be a man, as well as what it means to be a woman. ‘Real Men don’t cry’ – what constitutes a real man? Until we start looking at gender differently and how men and women can socialize, we’ll remain in these boxes that are too small for the complexity that is we.

Do you get down on men for being too emotional? How do you teach young boys to share their feelings?

JUST THINK 98: "WHEN IN DOUBT...LAUGH!"
by Shelli Tinae
twitter.com/ShelliTinae
theMindofShelliTinae.blogspot.com

I've laughed to keep from crying and it always made me feel better. In essence, laughing will do a complete makeover of your mind, body and soul by healing you from the effects of sadness. Yes, my friends, laughing is spiritual. The theory is simple: you can't possibly be sad for very long if you're laughing. Laughing is a remedy for anyone feeling in the dumps because it relieves pent up stress and tension.

I'm not speaking of laughing at someones misfortune - but I'm speaking of laughing from the joy you feel inside. We tend to take life too seriously but when we stop and realize how simple things were designed to be - you can't help but laugh at the irony.

THE MIND - When you choose laughter over anger, you will start to find solutions to your problems so they cease to exist. The universal law of mentalism comes into play here; the mind is all. Everything begins in our minds before it comes to fruition. Laughter can help create the joyful experiences we want to have. Let your mind be the gateway to laughter because you must desire it in your mind first.

THE BODY - The body responds to the messages you consciously or unconsciously send to your brain (or mind). Can you imagine the happy-dance going in every part of your body when you laugh? On the flip side, imagine the damage you are potentially doing when you are filled with rage, hate or sadness. The body responds to the messages you give it. If you're laughing and having a great time - the body receives these signals and you receive the nourishment from the positive effects of laughing.

THE SOUL - We've all heard the phrase, laughter is good for the soul - and it truly is. We are all spirits living a human experience and all-things positive is our connection to the Divine Source. If you want to have a better relationship with Source energy...LAUGH, SMILE, PLAY, LOVE. All of these positive attributes is what the Creator gets to experience through us.

Be light of heart and laughter will surely follow.

Eternal Blessings,

Shelli Tinae

REAL TALK:"ARE YOU THE WIFE TYPE?"
by Native Notes
twitter.com/NativeNotes
NativeNotes.net

What makes a woman wife material? If you were to ask 5 different guys this same question I assure you, you will get 5 different answers. There may be some similarities and universal traits of excellence that we’re all attracted to but there will also be individual quirks for each man. Contrary to popular belief men are not monolith nor are we these predictable stereotypes that some women create to make themselves feel better about the fact that no one is interested in putting a ring on their finger.

Here are a few questions to ask yourself to determine if you are wife material…

Can you Burn?

Now before you accuse me of being a blatant sexist hear me out. Women who cook are no longer the norm and those who can cook are even more of a rarity. For that reason I don’t think expecting your grandmother’s cooking is as realistic today as it was 40 years ago. Some men grew up in homes with “Big Momma” or their momma cooking up a storm so when they have a girlfriend who can’t burn it’s an automatic turn off.

Are you family oriented?

When a woman asks for a man’s list and sees that one of the top 5 qualities is that the woman be family oriented they immediately pat themselves on their backs saying “I’m family oriented”. Meanwhile they have a terrible relationship with their family and don’t seem to be too interested in building one with his. Or some women have a great relationship with their own family but keep something slick to say about the man’s family. We’re looking to have our own family at some point so when choosing a partner we need someone who helps create that Huxtable vibe. If you think that’s unrealistic, maybe another issue you have that makes you NOT wife material is your inability to dream.

Do you settle?

There’s nothing less attractive than a woman who settles. When looking for a partner both men and women should look for someone who pushes them to be better. A person who settles doesn’t push his/herself so please don’t expect them to push you or the relationship further.

Do you make him better?

A friendship between two people should enhance the two individuals involved and being that your wife should be your best friend she needs to make you better and vice versa. And when I say better, we need to hone our spiritual selves together, work out those financial kinks together and teach each other how to love each other (better). By no means am I saying that you should go into a relationship without being whole first, you have to come to the table with a clear sense of self. However as time goes on we’re supposed to evolve, we’re supposed to change and you’re going to need someone who helps that change be for the better.

Are you the forever type?

A good man is one who is focused on family. When he finds that woman with that forever ish’ he can imagine them going to parent/teacher night together. He can see her in the delivery room and the joy of holding his first born. He sees her in his life forever, celebrating achievements and accolades– he envisions what forever looks like and her face is always in the picture. You would be surprised how many women are in relationships, especially long term relationships where they haven’t asked or know outright that their man doesn’t see forever in their relationship. Some people will force it, thinking he/she will learn to love me. It shouldn’t work that way, it should be organic unless you want to end up having one of these wild and crazy divorce parties.

Don’t look at this small list and apply it to all men, find out what quirks your man has. Notice I left sex out but don’t think that sex is unimportant; my advice would be that a man will appreciate a woman who is open to exploring her body sexually. You might have had a lot of sex but let’s try and have some good sex and for that to happen we need to be open minded.

Moreover don’t read this list and immediately become defensive and lash out about those men who aren’t husband material. Forget those dudes; there are tons of good men out there who will be your knight in shining armor. There are men who will defy patriarchal traditions and work on creating a new man/woman unit for the two of you to exist within. We don’t need nor want to keep you barefoot and pregnant to keep you in our world. We’re looking for a partner just as you are and together we’ll make a superb team.
